Alex Robichaud

(They/She) Secretary-Treasurer

Alex Robichaud grew up as a settler on Wəlastəkokewiyik territory in New Brunswick and moved to Tiohtià:ke (Montréal) in 2011 to complete their undergraduate degree at Concordia. In 2017, Alex earned a Master of Museum Studies at the University of Toronto with a research focus on photography and queer curatorial practices for exhibiting sexually explicit artworks. Since graduation they have worked at the Curating and Public Scholarship Lab (CaPSL) on Concordia SGW Campus. Between 2018-2021 they co-founded and coordinated a Curatorial Residency program that provided paid opportunities for emerging curators and since 2021, have worked as the Project Coordinator for the Thinking Through the Museum Research Network. Their forthcoming chapter “‘Queering the Map: ON_SITE’ in conversation” argues how administrative roles can be ethical and creative components of exhibition development and reflects critically on museums’ and universities’ ‘progressive’ public messaging, which are often juxtaposed with employees’ firsthand accounts of unethical work practices.

Gurudeeban Selvaraj

(He/Him) VP Loyola Campus

Dr. Gurudeeban Selvaraj, the Vice President Loyola campus for CARE, holds a PhD in Biotechnology and has over nine years of experience in academic research. Specializing in Computational Biology and Chemistry, Selvaraj has served on advisory boards at the Centre for Research in Molecular Modeling (CERMM) and various scientific societies, journals, and conferences. He brings a deep understanding of labour relations and advocacy. As the union’s Vice President, Selvaraj is dedicated to advancing the rights, professional development, and well-being of research staff. His leadership focuses on fostering fair working conditions, career growth opportunities, and amplifying union members’ voices in institutional decisions. Selvaraj is committed to building a stronger, more supportive research community at Concordia.

Guénolé Choné

(He/Him) Collective Agreement Coordinator

Guénolé Choné has been a research associate at the River Management Lab in the Department of Geography, Planning, and Environment since 2013. He became involved with the union in 2022 as a member of the bargaining committee for the renewal of the collective agreement. Guénolé is a fluvial geomorphologist as well as a specialist in hydraulics and geomatics. His research focuses on identifying and mapping risks associated with rivers, including floods and bank erosion, in collaboration with various levels of government.

Liam Devitt

(They/Them) VP Sir George William Campus

Liam Devitt is the Vice-President (SGW Campus) for CARE. They work in the History department’s Centre for Oral History and Digital Storytelling. Trained as a labour historian at Concordia, they have worked in electoral politics, political advocacy and journalism. Liam is proud to represent their fellow workers and fight for workplace justice.

Executive Committee

Time commitments for executive committee members include an hour-long weekly meeting, as well as approximately one more hour each week for events or tasks related to the position’s duties.

Pay Equity Committee

The goal of this committee is to fight for pay equity for all of CARE’s members.

The focus of this committee is on gender pay equity. We currently have two members, but need at least three to share responsibilities evenly and show how much it matters to Concordia University.
